MEDICAL

Home Care Aide

This program trains students to become a Home Care Aide, an individual authorized to provide non-medical services and assistance to an elderly or disabled client. Students learn HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality, emergency preparedness, first aid and safety, proper positioning and transfer techniques, nutrition and dietary needs, and basic patient care such as dressing and undressing, shaving and hair care, nail and skin care, and oral hygiene. All students are fingerprinted, pass a background check, and are registered with the California Department of Public Social Services to serve as a DPSS Home Care Aide. This program is delivered online using an online Learning Management System for curriculum and Zoom for direct instruction. Because of this flexible delivery, enrollment for the program is open and ongoing.
